Rev. Ji had been active in the Presbyterian Church in the Republic of Korea (PROK). PROK and UCC are global mission partners with a long history and strong relationships that date back to before the inauguration of the United Church.

He studied theology (B. Th) at Hanshin University, Korea and majored in church history at the graduate school. (Th.M.) As a candidate for ordained ministry, he gained pastoral experiences at local churches in Seoul and was ordained by the PROK in 2007.

After completing graduate school, he worked actively as a hospital chaplain at Seoul National University Hospital before coming to Canada.

In 2014, he came to St. Andrew’s College in Saskatoon, SK, to expand his theological views and gain broader pastoral experience. He earned a Master of Theological Studies degree (M.T.S.) in 2016 and then transferred to the United Church of Canada to continue his ministry in Canada.

Rev. Ji continued his ministry with Grasslands Pastoral Charge of Mankota, Glentworth and McCord in south-central Saskatchewan. (2017-2022) He moved to New Brunswick, another part of Canada, for new challenges and a broader and more diverse ministry experience.

After serving St Andrew’s United Church in Miramichi (2022-2024), he was welcomed as the new minister in an experimental cooperative ministry comprised of Forest Hill United Church and Gibson Memorial United Church in Fredericton, effective May 1, 2024.
